It’s patch day, and it’s a big one. Season 6 of The Outlast Trials, codenamed Project Judas, has officially launched today (March 24), bringing a huge batch of new content, gameplay changes, and an awesome limited-time event.

From new trials to major rig reworks, there’s plenty here to keep you busy.

3 New Trials Arrive

The highlight of Project Judas is without a doubt the addition of three new Trials.

First up is a brand-new main trial, Silence the Idol, set in an all-new environment: the TV station. This is the second map featuring the Kress twins as the Prime Asset, and it tasks Reagents with escorting (and torturing) a famous idol and political candidate through the various studio rooms of the TV station.

Alongside that comes a new MK Challenge, Solve the Murder, set on the Resort map. This trial has you figuring out the murder weapon, murder room, and the killer, in a very Clue-esque fashion.

Finally, there’s a surprise extra MK Challenge. Without spoiling too much, players will recognize the environment from last year’s Amelia escape event – but this time, things play out very differently. While technically labeled as an MK challenge, it feels much closer to a full Trial in terms of length and structure.

New Scavenger Limited-Time Event

Season 6 also introduces a brand-new Scavenger limited-time event, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most unique LTEs so far.

This event uses the new Broken Reagent variator, meaning you’ll begin Trials at a serious disadvantage:

  • No rig, prescriptions, or amps
  • You start injured
  • Reduced night vision battery

Throughout the trials, you’ll need to scavenge one-time-use “Salvage Rigs” scattered throughout the map from former reagents. There’s also a new secondary objective, Deliver the Components, which requires players to locate and deposit mechanical parts into salvage boxes.

As usual, the event is split into two phases:

  • Part 1: March 24, 2026 (10am ET) – April 7, 2026 (9:59am ET)
  • Part 2: April 7, 2026 (10am ET) – April 21, 2026 (9:59am ET)

I’m really excited to hop into this event, as it sounds like a really tough challenge.

Major Rig Reworks

Project Judas also brings significant updates to two rigs: X-Ray and Barricade.

The X-Ray rig has been redesigned into a toggle ability, allowing for more flexible use. It can now mark multiple enemies through walls and even temporarily disable nearby traps, making it far more impactful and versatile.

Meanwhile, the Barricade rig has received several quality-of-life improvements. Barricades are now refunded instantly when removed, have increased durability, and even deal damage to enemies when destroyed. New placement options – including windows and rolling gates – should also make the rig far more versatile.

Invasion Mode Updates

PvP players haven’t been left out either. With Season 6, Invasion mode rankings have been reset, giving everyone a fresh start. New rewards are up for grabs as players climb back to Gold I, and the addition of leaderboards now lets you compare your performance against others.

Maybe it’s time that I actually jump into Invasion…

New Cosmetics and Rewards

As always, a new season also means plenty of brand new cosmetics.

Season 6 introduces a new deluxe catalog packed with outfits, cell decorations, and other unlockables. The Blackmarket has also been refreshed with new gear, and Twitch Drops are returning – offering some very purple-themed cosmetics for those who tune in to their favorite streamers.

Final Thoughts

Project Judas is easily one of the coolest updates The Outlast Trials has received so far. With new Trials, a challenging limited-time event, meaningful rig reworks, and fresh rewards across the board, there’s a lot here for both new and returning players.
