Congratulations to anyone who made it through all 13 hours.

Dead by Daylight just hosted a half-day-long livestream, ending with the reveal that one of horror’s most iconic villains is finally coming to the game next month.

For most of its runtime, the stream showed a static shot of a wooden cabin in the forest, with very little actually happening. Occasionally, small details broke the silence, such as dogs barking, camera glitches, and flickers of light in the trees. It felt reminiscent of the old Yule Log-style streams once hosted by Jeff Kaplan and the Overwatch team.

Right at the end, things finally escalated. The camera suddenly shook and moved toward the cabin. Inside, the unseen cameraman picked up a machete and a familiar hockey mask before turning toward a window. A flash of lightning revealed the figure everyone had been expecting:

Jason Voorhees is coming to Dead by Daylight.

Jason has long been one of the most requested additions to the game – arguably the biggest horror icon still missing, aside from perhaps Pennywise.

Of course, Jason previously starred in his own asymmetrical multiplayer title, Friday the 13th: The Game, which directly competed with Dead by Daylight. However, ongoing licensing disputes prevented the game from receiving any further updates, and the game was eventually delisted in 2023, with servers shutting down fully in 2024.

Because of those legal issues, many fans doubted Jason would ever “enter the Fog.” But now that the dispute has been resolved, the character has been making a comeback across multiple projects, including the upcoming “Crystal Lake” TV series from A24, as well as recent appearances in Fortnite and Call of Duty. And now, Dead by Daylight joins that list.

Details on Jason’s abilities are still under wraps, but he’s set to arrive on June 16. You can watch the 40-second teaser below, unless you want to watch all 13-hours here.
