Capcom has released its Q1 2025 earnings report, offering fresh insight into the performance of its biggest titles – particularly the ever-successful Resident Evil series.
The report highlights impressive sales milestones for several key entries in the franchise:
Resident Evil 2 Remake – 15.8 million units sold
Resident Evil 4 Remake – 10.6 million units sold
Resident Evil Village – 12.2 million units sold
Resident Evil 7 – 15.4 million units sold
Resident Evil as a whole has now sold over 174 million copies worldwide, firmly establishing it as the best-selling horror game franchise of all time.
Capcom also shared an update on its other zombie-themed series, Dead Rising, which has now surpassed 18 million units sold across all titles. Not bad for significantly fewer games.
The momentum isn’t slowing down anytime soon. With Resident Evil 9: Requiem launching in February 2026, the franchise is expected to reach even greater sales milestones in the months ahead.
Outside of games, Resident Evil is also returning to the big screen. A new live-action film directed by Zach Cregger (Barbarian, Weapons) is currently in production and scheduled for release next year. With his knack for tension and originality, he’s a promising choice to bring something fresh to the long-running film series, and hopefully not flop like many of the RE TV and movie adaptations do.
