This guide walks you through how to survive all 7 killers in Welcome to the Game 3’s normal mode.

With the game just coming out, this guide is still a work in progress – please comment on anything helpful you’ve found, and I’ll add it to the guide for fellow gamers.

General Enemy Information

  • There’s a 30 minute grace period before enemies are active (9pm to 9.30pm). You should maximise this time to: find meth for Cletus; lock the back door; set up cryptominers for DOSCoin & buying motion sensors.
  • Killers become increasingly more active, the more websites that you visit with keys on them – as such, don’t be too hasty with visiting websites on ANN. If you do visit a website, make sure to thoroughly look for the key. Most killers will activate after a certain amount of time (e.g. 2 hours) or if you’ve accessed a certain number of websites with keys on them (e.g. 2 websites with keys). Of course, you may not even realise that the website you’ve accessed has a key on it, making it even more dangerous.
  • On normal difficulty, there’s a save point every hour. If you die right after the hour, the next time you load in, the killer will more than likely still be queued up to attack you. This can lead to an annoying loop where you get killed by the same enemy multiple times. In this case, you know who’s going to attack you, so use the advice below to pre-empt the attack.

Noir

Noir can appear in several different situations. If they appear together, you will need to do one of the below actions:

  • If the female noir is on the left: Shine a flashlight at them for a moment and turn away completely, count exactly to 10, then immediately turn back around to where they previously were.
  • If the male noir is on the left: Shine a flashlight at them for a moment and turn away completely, count exactly to 5, then immediately turn back around to where they previously were.

You may also encounter the Noir whilst sitting at your computer. Do not stand up to turn around, as the male Noir will kill you. Instead, turn your head to the side and wait until the female Noir says “good boy”.

If you have the lights out, the Noir will spawn more frequently.

Tucker

Tucker in Welcome to the Game 3

There’s two different situations where you can run into Tucker.

Resetting the WiFi

When you’re resetting a wifi router at the back of one of the motel rooms, there’s an animation that plays of the cables being disconnected and reconnected. Once that finishes, you need to stay still and listen out for grass crunching. If you hear the sound effect, you need to wait until you hear grass crunching again which signals him leaving (around 10-15 seconds later).

If you immediately turn away once the animation finishes and Tucker is there (which he is, most of the time), he will kill you.

Country Music

The second instance is when you start hearing really loud country/banjo music. This starts a hidden timer where you need to find and enter the motel room that has an Ace of Spades playing card on the door handle. This will randomly spawn each time the interaction starts, so you won’t know which room to go to until you are outside. That also means the motel room will be different each time he spawns this attack.

Once inside the room, lock the door and wait until you hear a little victory jingle. Then it’s safe to go back outside – though do make sure to check the peephole in case Tanner is hiding outside the door.

Cletus

When Cletus attacks you, he will check if you have any meth on you. If you don’t have any, he will kill you.

You can find at least 1 packet in a randomized motel room. Make sure to check both in the bedroom and the bathroom.

You can press tab to check your inventory and confirm that you have the goods.

Tip: Don’t have more than one packet of meth on you at a time, as Cletus will take everything you’ve got and still expect more when he next attacks.

I’d recommend finding the packet(s) of meth throughout the motel during the grace period. Make sure you only pick up one, and put the room name of any other packets you find in your notes (i.e. your Steam notes or in-game notes) for later.

After Cletus attacks you, make sure to quickly find another packet of meth, so that you’re prepared in case he attacks again shortly after.

Once he’s taken all the motel room meth, you’ll need to buy more from users online. I will outline these steps in an update to this guide.

Lucas

Lucas will enter the motel office via the back door to assassinate you. To slow him down, make sure to lock the back door. You can press right click on the door to lock it.

If you hear the lock turning, immediately get up from the computer and run to a hiding spot. There’s one to the left of the computer room (the laundry hamper) and there’s also the locker in the toilets (to the right).

You don’t have too long to hide, however if you’re super quick, then turn out the lights in the room where you’re hiding, so he won’t stay around for as long and making the anxiety mini-game easier.

Lucas’ sound cue can be a bit difficult to hear sometimes – I’d recommend buying the Motion alert software, as well as a Motion sensor to place next to the back door which will give you more time to hide than just listening for the sound cue alone.

Motion sensor location by the back door.

Note that if you find the key to the electrical room (and unlock it), Lucas has an additional point of entry into the motel office As such, you need to keep that electrical room door locked as well, and you might want to get a secondary motion sensor by that door too.

I believe Lucas will only spawn once an NPC acquires the hitman service. You can check this by pressing on the menu that shows the other players’ progress (i.e. where you see their reputation level, keys, DOSCoin, etc), and checking whether the target icon is green or blanked out).

Example of NPC which has not acquired the hitman service yet (the target icon on the right is blanked out).

Versus when an NPC has sent a hitman after you (the target icon is bright green).

The Breather

When you go to the dead drop location, you may run into the Breather. To reach the dead drop location, walk through the motel parking lot until you reach the main road. Then turn left, and walk to the lit up area under the bridge. Your package will be to the left side of the road in the grass.

If the Breather attacks you, there’ll be a short animation where the camera snaps to the Breather, and he’ll start running at you after you pick up your package. Sprint back towards the motel, and he’ll give up once you reach the parking lot.

Tip: Make sure that you don’t use your stamina running to the dead drop location, as you’ll need a full stamina bar to make it back without the Breather catching up.

One thing to note is that the game will automatically turn your camera 180 degrees once his animation finishes, so just focus on running forward (as you don’t need to turn around yourself).

You will also encounter the Breather if you walk too far from the motel (i.e. you walk too far down the main road).

The Kidnapper

The Kidnapper will appear in a white van parked by the main road. If you venture outside whilst the van is still there, he’ll grab you from behind.

Depending where the van is parked, you can either *barely* see it through the sliding doors, or you’ll need to use SecCams from the store.

To get him to leave, you need to stay inside until he leaves. This can potentially be a hinderance if you need to go outside (for example to pick up drugs for Cletus), so just be aware of this.

You can faintly see the kidnapper’s white van out of the sliding doors

Tanner

Tanner in Welcome to the Game 3

Tanner is probably the hardest killer in Welcome to the Game III right now, and he’s even had a few hot fixes since the game’s launch which make him even more challenging.

There’s two times where you may encounter Tanner:

Motel Room

The first is when leaving a motel room. He can jump at you, push you down to the ground and start licking you. He’ll then inject you with his needle and kill you. This is the easier one to avoid, as you’ll just need to lock the motel room door whilst inside and check the peephole before leaving.. If he’s visible through the peephole, just wait until he leaves your view, and you’ll be safe to exit the room.

Sliding Doors

The second is when you are sitting on your computer in the office. He sprints from the parking lot, rushes through the sliding doors, vaults the desk and injects you. To avoid this, you need to listen out for his sound cue, which is rustling grass. It’s SUPER faint to hear, so it might be necessary to buy the Aid Pods from the store if you’re consistently struggling.

If you do hear the sound cue, then press the panic button, and wait for him. He usually reaches the front door around 10-15 seconds after the sound cue, so even if you don’t see him immediately, just wait it out until he arrives (i.e. don’t sit down back at the desk until you are sure he’s not there). The first time, he’ll sprint right into the glass doors and fall over. Every time after this happens, he’ll stop before he falls over.

Unfortunately, you can no longer spam the panic button to check if Tanner is there, as each time you use the panic button, your internet will break and need to be reset. I’d still err on the side of caution though – if you think you heard the sound cue, it’s better to have to reset the wifi than be killed.

It seems like Tanner spawns near either end of the parking lot. Some players have found that putting a motion sensor on the wooden poles outside the furthest rooms on both the left and right side can catch Tanner’s movement on the motion alert. See the picture below to understand what I mean.

Put a motion sensor on the two furthest wooden poles on opposite sides of the parking lot.

BONUS: The Bombmaker

There’s also an eighth killer that can spawn – the Bombmaker. He will only activate once you go onto the Bombmaker website in the wiki. He will message you that he’s placed a bomb somewhere, along with a code to disarm it. It’s really important to check your messages once this event happens, otherwise you won’t have the disarm code.

It’s super obvious when the bombmaker starts to attack, as a huge 2 minute timer will pop-up at the top of your screen.

The bombmaker is quite easy to avoid, as you just have to avoid going to his website. Of course, there might be a key on his site, but I’d recommend simply leaving it until last. Chances are that the key won’t be there.

I’m not certain all the locations that the bomb will spawn, however I’ve seen it spawn in the motel rooms. If you walk along the back of the rooms, you can hear a faint ticking for the room where the bomb is (if the bomb is near the back of the room). Similarly, walk along the front of the rooms to check if the bomb is near the front.

If you don’t find the bomb and defuse it in time, then you’ll explode.

Conclusion

That’s been our guide to the threats in WTTG3 so far – remember it’s a work in progress, so we’ll be adding more as we play more of Welcome to the Game 3. We’ve also created a guide to website opening times if you want help knowing which websites to open, and at what time. If you have any useful additions to the guide, please let me know in the comments below.
