Coming hot off the heels of the recent Monster Update, which introduced a whopping 10 new enemies, the developers of R.E.P.O. have been hard at work on the game’s next major patch.
We already had confirmation from a previous dev update that cosmetics would be debuting in the game, finally letting players customize their Semibots without needing mods. But now, the developers have dropped an even bigger surprise: vehicles are officially being added to the game!
The new ride, the Semiscooter, will be available for purchase in the in-game shop throughout your run. Based on the developer video, the Semiscooter looks to be seriously fast and, excitingly, can fit two players at once. This should be a game-changer for quickly maneuvering through maps and outrunning enemies.
All good things come with a price, however. The developers are exploring a system where the Semiscooter gets damaged over time, requiring repairs to keep it roadworthy throughout the run. While this mechanic makes sense – an infinite-use Semiscooter would definitely be OP – I hope they give it enough juice to handle a few laps around each level before breaking down on me.
They’ve also teased that more features for this major update will be unveiled next Friday, December 19th. Stay tuned for the next official reveal!
