The Outlast Trials isn’t slowing down heading into winter. Season 5, titled Project Messiah, has officially arrived, bringing a brand-new Prime Asset, a chilling new map, major Invasion reworks, and the return of the Winter Kills event.
The best part is – it’s live for players right now! Check out everything major that’s new in Season 5 of The Outlast Trials below.
Meet Sister Liliya Bogomolova – Season 5’s New Prime Asset
Season 5 introduces Liliya Bogomolova, an unhinged “woman of God” with a talent for ambushes and a deadly calm that makes her one of the game’s most jump-scarey Prime Assets yet.

Liliya stalks players from the shadows, blending in with mannequins, striking with long-range surprise attacks, and immobilizing Reagents in brutal finishing grabs. She also frequently relocates throughout the Trial, keeping players guessing and never quite sure where she’ll strike next.
New Environment: The Resort
Season 5’s flagship addition is The Resort, a snowy luxury retreat twisted into a cult compound run by Liliya herself. Behind its opulent doors, she prepares a VIP auction where human lives are the commodities.

The new Trial, Despoil the Auction, drops players into the middle of this grotesque marketplace. Your job is to sabotage the auction before you become part of it.
Two New MK-Challenges
Players can take on two new MK-Challenges, now confirmed in their respective environments:
- Fabricate the Scandal: Set in the Shopping Mall, this MK challenge tasks you with creating scandalous “truths” and shaping crimes for Murkoff’s entertainment.
- Seize the Narcotics: Taking place inside the Police Station, this MK challenge has you tracking down and destroying controlled substances to “free” yourself from the system.
Winter Kills Returns And It’s Even Colder
The seasonal Winter Kills event returns in two parts from December 9, 2025 to January 6, 2026, bringing new rewards, modifiers, and the debut of Permafrost, a brutal permanent-freeze variator that forces you to seek out heat or freeze to your death mid-trial.
Returning modifiers include:
- Frost Mines, which replace gas mines
- Gifts, which can be collected throughout the Trial for extra rewards
Alongside the event, a Winter Kills Catalog introduces limited-time cosmetics earnable with Event Tokens.
New Deluxe Catalog
A new permanent Deluxe Catalog for this season is also live, offering 10 pages of cult-themed cosmetics. Players can unlock items using Murkoff Coins and Stamps earned in Trials.

The Murkoff Store has also been updated with brand-new Deluxe Outfits and returning catalog collections.
Invasion Mode Gets Its Biggest Overhaul Yet
Season 5 delivers extensive changes to Invasion, the PVP mode in Trials, refining both pacing and balance.
Highlights include:
- A redesigned Invasion menu prioritizing Quick Play
- A brand-new Invasion Ranking System
- Imposters now focus more on disruption rather than kills
- Major stamina reductions for Imposter actions
- Faster base speed for better stalking
- Reagents’ stuns and tools deal much less stamina damage
- Anti-stalling electrocution rules added to keep Trials moving
The overall effect is that Imposters can pressure more consistently, but must stay cautious, as Ex-Pops hit harder, and reckless play is punished.
Flashback Therapy Arrives Early 2026
A new event, Flashback Therapy, will let players revisit past events such as Jaeger Onboarding, Deep Burn, Toxic Shock, and more. Older event catalogs will also be available again for players who missed them.
Twitch Drops Are Live
From December 9 to January 6, players can link their account and earn exclusive cosmetics simply by watching The Outlast Trials streams on Twitch.

More Fixes & Improvements
Season 5 wraps in a host of updates including:
- New Sleep Room minigame tasks
- More Featured Trial Maker creations
- Higher Trial rewards
- Event Tokens now awarded to Imposters
- Store and UI quality-of-life changes
