Seize the Narcotics Beginner’s Guide (Outlast Trials)

Seize the Narcotics is an MK Challenge in The Outlast Trials, introduced in Season 5 on the Police Station map.

In this trial, players must collect drug packets from the Security Room and stash them inside 1-4 corpses located around the map.

This guide walks you through how to complete the MK Challenge, along with some practical tips to help you survive it, and hopefully get an A+ grade.

Getting started

When the trial begins, you’ll spawn in one of four different sections of the Police Station. If you’re playing in a group, each team member will spawn in a different area of the map.

In each section, there will be a corpse near to the spawn point – this is where the drug packets need to be deposited.

Depending on the number of players in the trial, the number of corpses will vary. For example, in single-player, there is only a singular corpse, but you’ll need to deposit 10 drug packets. If you play with 4 players, you’ll need to deposit 7 drug packets in 4 different corpses.

Remember, if you want to earn the A+ grade, you need to also complete the secondary objective, which is collecting 3 propaganda posters (or 5 if you are playing in multiplayer).

Reaching the security room

From the corpse near your spawn point, you’ll need to make your way to the Security Room, where you can find the drug packets. There are signs along the corridors that point you in the right direction, and there are always multiple paths you can take to reach it.

One route is usually quite direct, while the others are more roundabout and may require breaking through doors or windows, or using lockpicks.

However, be careful with the most direct route, as these paths are controlled by Security Gates. Each security gate will permanently lock after a reagent passes through it three times. The number displayed above the gate shows how many uses you have left before it locks.

Tip: Since Security Gates permanently lock, it’s a good idea to use the longer, alternative routes early in the trial. This saves the fastest and safest path for later, when more enemies are active and things get more hectic.

In the hallway leading to the Security Room, be careful of Coyle, as he patrols this area. In the Security Room, you’ll be able to find a container holding all of the drug packets you need.

Grab the packets from this nifty evidence box in the Security Room

The number of drug packets that spawn is exactly the number required to complete the objective. They do not respawn if you lose or drop them (unlike Hearts in the Fun Fair trials). Because of this, it’s best not to drop packets on the floor, as it might be difficult to find them again.

Escaping the trial

Once all the drug packets have been stashed inside the corpses, head back to the Jail door near the Security Room. Press the button to open the door, which will begin the 180-second exit countdown.

Make your way back here once all the drugs are stashed.

Run outside to the front of the police station and make your way to the shuttles to escape.

Be careful, as Coyle spawns outside near the shuttle doors during the escape phase, making the final run pretty dangerous.

The Best Rig for Seize the Narcotics

The jammer is definitely the best rig to use on Seize the Narcotics, because it can unlock the security gates even if they are permanently closed. This is particularly useful in multiplayer, as some of the gates closest to the security room are likely to get locked pretty quickly as everyone passes through.

This is a closed security door

I also find the Stun rig to be pretty powerful for this MK Challenge, as you’ll most likely run into Coyle near the security room repeatedly (where there aren’t many alternative escape routes to choose from), so this will give you the chance to collect the drug packets, stun him, and make your escape.

The Best Amps/Prescriptions

Having both the Expanded Inventory prescription (+1 inventory slot) and the Backpack amp (+1 inventory slot) is super useful for this trial. This allows you to have five inventory slots at once. If you’re playing in single-player, this means you’ll only have to do two trips (5 drug packets on the first trip, 5 on the second) to the security room.
