Cancel the Broadcast is an MK Challenge set in the TV Studio environment which was released in 2026.

Your objective is to find the six missing codes using a black light, enter them into the switchboard, and activate the sprinkler system to stop the broadcast.

This guide walks you through how to complete Cancel the Broadcast, including where to find the code parts and how the code system works.

Starting the Trial

You start the trial in the backstage area of Studio 5. From here, make your way to the control room.

Inside, you’ll find several TVs displaying the locations where the codes can be found. Check these screens to work out which areas you need to visit as they’ll be different each time.

Enter into Studio 5, and follow the paint from the mannequins to find the first two codes (one letter and one number). Here, you will also see a battery dispenser, and gate that is powered by batteries. Use these batteries to open up the gate. This will unlock the rest of the TV studio, and enemies (including the Kress Twins) will begin patrolling.

Code Locations

The first two codes (one letter and one number) can always be found in Studio 5.

Beyond that, four additional locations are randomly selected from the following areas:

  • Audiovisual
  • Offices
  • Rooftop
  • Service Area
  • Studio 3
  • Studio 4

This means you’ll need to find four additional code parts (two letters and two numbers).

Finding the Codes

The trickiest part of Cancel the Broadcast is locating the codes with your blacklight. You could search every wall and surface in each area, but this can take a while, particularly in the larger sections of the map (e.g. the Service Area).

Instead, look for the Painter Mannequins scattered throughout the relevant areas. Once you find one, use your blacklight to follow the trail of paint near them until you discover the piece of the code.

The code piece is usually fairly close to the mannequin, either directly beside it or a short distance along the paint trail.

It’s also important to mention that sometimes these mannequins are slightly outside of their designated area. For example, the Offices mannequin might be in the hallway behind the Offices, or the Studio 4 mannequin might be up in the Studio 4 Control Room.

How Does the Code Work?

There are three letters and three numbers that make up the code on the switchboard. The switchboard is organised into three lines, each with its own range of letters and numbers:

  • Line 1: A to E and 01 to 05
  • Line 2: F to J and 11 to 15
  • Line 3: K to O and 21 to 25

When you find a code part using your blacklight, it will reveal either a letter or a number.

If you’re struggling to locate the final code part, you can technically resort to trial and error. For example, if you’ve found five of the six parts, there are only five possible options for the missing piece. This is because each line can only contain one letter and one number. You can’t have both A and B on the same line, for example, or both 14 and 15. As such, if you’re only missing one part, you have a 20% chance of guessing correctly.

However, be careful, as entering an incorrect code will cause you to take damage. It’s generally safer to track down the missing code part if you can.

Battery Gates

You’ll need to open rechargeable battery gates to access different sections of the map. These gates require you to insert batteries until you reach a charge quota of 70, at which point the gate unlocks.

There are two types of batteries to look out for:

  • Large batteries: Provide 70 charge, enough to open a gate on their own.
  • Small batteries: Provide 35 charge, meaning you’ll need two to unlock the gate.

If you’re struggling to loot enough batteries across the map, Studio 5 has an infinite battery spawner that you can use to replenish your inventory.

Rechargeable battery gates were first introduced in Silence the Idol, so if you’ve completed that main trial, the mechanic should already be familiar.

Finishing the Trial

Once you’ve found all the required code parts, return to the switchboard and enter the correct codes.

With the codes entered, activate the sprinkler system button to complete the main objective. You can then make your way back to the exit shuttle and leave the trial.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you use the jammer rig to unlock battery gates?

No, the jammer can not be used to unlock main objective doors or progression blocks such as the battery gates. You must still locate, carry, and insert batteries to power these doors in order to reach the code locations.
