The first chapter of Poppy Playtime was released all the way back in 2021. During your playthrough, you can find 5 different hidden VHS tapes that offer extra insight into the disturbing secrets of Playtime Co.
Collecting all 5 tapes will unlock the “Avid Listener” achievement!
Below, we’ll walk you through exactly where to locate each tape and where to find the VHS players to watch them.
Tape 1 Location: “Leith Pierre, Closing”
As soon as the game starts and you walk into the Playtime Co. lobby, head straight to the front desk. The green tape will be sitting right there, easy to spot! Turn to your right and you’ll see a green tape player and TV in the corner of the lobby.
Tape 2 Location: “GrabPack Training”
To the left of the lobby is the Security Room, locked behind a colour-coded keypad. The door code is: green, pink, yellow, red.
Once you’re inside, the blue tape is on the desk to the left of the GrabPack compartment. The blue VCR player is right there in the same room.
This is the only tape you must watch to progress – it teaches you how to use your GrabPack, which you’ll need for the rest of the game!
Tape 3 Location: “Security Camera: Rich & Avery”
In the factory room where you pick up the red GrabPack hand, drop down from the catwalk to the factory floor. Look to the left and find the second leaning shelf closest to the large door with multi-coloured handprints, and grab the yellow tape from the shelf.
Open the large door with your blue grab hand.
In this room at the bottom of the stairs, you’ll find the yellow VCR player and TV waiting for you.
Tape 4 Location: “Stella Greyber Interview”
In the Make-a-Friend room, head up the metal stairs on the right side of the room.
At the top of the stairs, you’ll see the pink VCR player. Continue across the catwalk until you need to use your GrabPack to pull a section of the catwalk towards you.
Walk onto this section, and look to your right, where you’ll spot the pink tape resting on a blue square on the wall.
Tape 5 Location: “Final Log”
After you escape from Huggy Wuggy (and send him falling into the pit), continue along the catwalk toward the big door marked by a poppy. At the final T-shaped junction, look down and the grey tape will be lying right on the ground in your path.
After picking it up, turn right and follow the catwalk all the way to the end. The grey tape player is waiting there for you.
And that’s all the 5 tapes in Chapter 1. Even though most of the tapes are optional, each one adds a piece to the puzzle of what happened at Playtime Co. all those years ago. If you rush through the story, it’s easy to miss them, so keep your eyes peeled!
