6 Tanglewood Drive has long been the face of the game. As one of the original launch maps, it’s the place most players – myself included – completed their very first contract
With today’s latest update, the map has received a “complete visual overhaul, with new assets, props and interactions for both the Ghost and the Player”.
Tanglewood is just the latest in a line of major map reworks. Previously, the old Asylum map was transformed into the far more detailed Sunny Meadows facility, and both farmhouse maps received substantial visual and structural updates last year.
What’s New, and What’s the Same
The new Tanglewood looks dramatically more detailed, and the once-recognisable default Unity assets have largely been replaced with bespoke props and redesigned interiors. Lighting, textures, and sound have all been upgraded, making the map feel more like a lived-in home.
Importantly, though, the core layout remains intact. The rough floorplan and overall structure of the house haven’t changed, meaning you won’t need to completely relearn the map.
With the map being so loved by the community, there is one change in particular that’s a bit controversial, which is the kitchen. The old kitchen featured a popular looping spot around the counter, which has now been removed. Nevertheless, the developers have reassured us that “there’s still excellent locations” around the rest of the map for looping.
The update is live now for all platforms (PC, Xbox, PlayStation). See the launch trailer below:
Of course, with the update, the spawn locations for the 7 cursed objects have also changed – check out our updated guide to the cursed object locations on Tanglewood.
