R.E.P.O. Devs Announce “The Monster Update”; Out October 30th

Jay DaviesNewsAugust 31, 2025

The runaway horror game hit of 2025 has to be R.E.P.O., which has cemented itself permanently in the Steam Charts top 50 since its February release.

However, in that time, there’s only been one major update so far – adding a museum map, moon phases and some awesome new items – but it’s left many players hungry for additional content.

One aspect that many players, myself included, have been dying for is more monsters. After a couple dozen hours of gameplay, you’ve likely learned how to counter each specific creature, so naturally you want a bit more variety to keep things fresh and terrifying.

Fortunately, in Semiwork’s most recent video titled “REVEALING THE NEXT R.E.P.O. UPDATE“, they announced exactly that – the next update will focus on adding more monsters to the game.

What We Know So Far

The video showed off one of the new monsters set to arrive in the update: a very ugly (no offence) creature that’s still very much a work in progress.

What that tongue do? One of the new monsters coming in the newest R.E.P.O update.

The developers admitted that this particular monster currently has no animations and doesn’t “do much right now.” However, they’re keeping most details under wraps to preserve the surprise and scares for when the update launches.

Beyond the new monsters, there are also gameplay updates in the works that will be revealed in future developer videos leading up to release. If you’ve got burning questions about what’s coming, head over to their video – they’ll be answering community questions in the next developer update.

Halloween Release Date

The best part is that Semiwork also revealed that “The Monster Update” will drop just before Halloween on October 30th! Perfect timing for some spooky gaming sessions with friends. I’m definitely planning to gather my crew for some Halloween horror fun.

With R.E.P.O. continuing to dominate the horror gaming scene and this monster-focused update on the horizon, October 30th can’t come soon enough for fans looking to get their scares on. Watch the developer update announcing this update below:
