The Outlast Trials has just smashed its all-time player count record, with almost 72,000 Steam players jumping into Red Barrels’ multiplayer horror game concurrently.
According to SteamDB, The Outlast Trials reached a peak of 71,900 concurrent players on October 3, making it the game’s biggest player count, even beating its Early Access launch back in May 2023.
That’s a pretty ridiculous jump from the game’s recent numbers (a +976% increase compared to September), and there’s one obvious reason for it: Steam’s Autumn Sale.
The Outlast Trials is currently 90% off
The Outlast Trials is currently available for just £3 ($4), thanks to a massive 90% discount during Steam’s Autumn Sale.
Considering the game normally costs around £30, that’s an absolute bargain, particularly if you’ve got a few friends who are willing to jump into the game with you. The game’s cosmetic DLCs have also been discounted, with all packs currently available for less than £2 ($3) each.
Looking Forward
Whether all 71,000 players stick around remains to be seen, but with the game’s annual Halloween event, Geister, approaching and the in-game lore heating up, there are plenty of reasons for new players to keep coming back.
