The Outlast Trials is teasing another community event, and it looks like players won’t have long to wait before finding out what’s next in Amelia’s storyline.
Red Barrels has previewed a new community event called Escape the Facility, which is set to begin on October 20th. The announcement comes just ahead of the return of Program Geister, the game’s annual Halloween event, making October a particularly busy month for players.
What Do We Know About Escape the Facility?
For now, Red Barrels hasn’t revealed exactly how Escape the Facility will work, however we do know that it’s a community event.
The developers have already experimented with community events earlier this year through Blood Drive, which ran from July 14 to August 25. During that event, players used blood extraction machines in Trials to contribute towards shared community milestones. Reaching those milestones unlocked rewards, giving Reagents a reason to work towards a collective goal.
Escape the Facility could follow a similar approach, although its objectives and reward structure haven’t been confirmed yet. Could players be completing tasks during the trials to help prepare for a larger escape attempt organised by Amelia, or will the community need to get a certain number of reagents out of the facility to fill a shared progress meter?
The Outlast Trials Has More October Content on the Way
Escape the Facility isn’t the only thing on the menu for October. From the roadmap, we are expecting new MK challenges as well as the return of the annual Halloween event, Program Geister.
Geister previously introduced special trial variations, including hallucinations, hidden player names and more imposters. The 2025 event also featured a limited-time cosmetic catalog, giving players a reason to jump back into the Trials for Halloween.
Hopefully, we’ll also get our first MK challenge on the new Prison Farm map, as there were lots of cool new mechanics introduced in Season 7’s new trial environment.
For now, October 20 is the date to watch. In the meantime, check out the teaser trailer below.
